The profession of a physiotherapist is an independent medical occupation. A graduate of the unified 5-year master’s studies, in accordance with the requirements of the Physiotherapist Profession Act, is prepared to work in the field of physiotherapy with patients of various ages and diverse dysfunctions. During the studies, they acquire theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and develop social competences necessary for applying physiotherapeutic procedures. These procedures include functional patient diagnostics, qualification, planning, and conducting physical therapy, kinesiotherapy, massage, and the use of specialized physiotherapy methods. Graduates are equipped to select orthopedic equipment tailored to patient needs and to teach patients how to use such devices. They can engage in physioprophylactic activities aimed at promoting health behaviors, shaping and maintaining fitness and endurance, and preventing disabilities. Additionally, they are prepared to conduct scientific research. Graduates are aware of the need for continuous professional improvement. Furthermore, by pursuing specialized modules during their studies (which they can choose from), they can deepen their practical knowledge and skills in the following areas: Conducting rehabilitation for children and adolescents, taking into account developmental dynamics. Effective work in sports, including injury prevention and rehabilitation related to sports. Providing rehabilitation for older individuals with functional and psychological dysfunctions. Physiotherapy studies have a practical profile, emphasizing the development of skills and competences related to a professional approach to patients, collaboration, and communication within the treating team. The abilities and competences described above are further refined during professional internships.
