About the university
The Polytechnic Institute of Viseu was created on 26 December 1979, through the Governmental Act-of-Law No. 513-T / 7. It is part of polytechnic higher education in Portugal.Its mission is to qualify at a high level, to produce knowledge, cultural, artistic, technical and scientific students and develop and participate in communication activities for society, including dissemination, transfer and economic strengthening of scientific knowledge, IPV is a legal entity of public law in the service of society and enjoys the law, scientific, pedagogical, administrative, financial, tribal and disciplinary. Today is an important reference city of Viseu and throughout the region, considering from birth to today as the driving force of scientific, technological, cultural and economic, in particular, in the framework of educational and research activities, cultural, scientific and technological diffusion, partnership, interdepartmental Protocols and cooperation with companies and other institutions. Viseu Polytechnic Institute consists of five colleges. - Teacher's College, College of Technology and School Management, Agricultural School, Lameg School of Technology and Management and the School of Community Health Sciences, consisting of 5,000 students, 360 teachers and 231 employees.
