About the university
The University of Algarve (UAlg) is a university of the Portuguese state with headquarters in Faro. It is the most prestigious institution of higher education in the South of Portugal. In the last years it has developed its potential of attraction of students, being the Portuguese university that grew more percentage. Founded in 1976 the UAlg is composed of four campuses: The University of the Algarve is characterized by the gathering of organic units of university higher education and polytechnic higher education. It is also a pioneer in the Erasmus Mundus program and has attracted more and more international students. It is composed of 3 Faculties (Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Economy), 3 higher schools (education, communication, management, hotel, tourism and health) and 1 institute (engineering).
