Objectives In the scope of the applicable legislation (Higher Education and Teacher Training), the Master's Degree in Teaching of Physical Education in Elementary and High Schools grants professional qualification for those educational degrees (Law-Dec. nr. 43/2007 of 22nd of February and MCTES dispatch of 18-10-2008). Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired The degree is a natural and legitimate continuation of teacher training in Physical Education and Sports in the Lusófona University, renovating and updating our matrix: A strong scientific and pedagogic component in the area of the specialty. The Specific Didactics and the Internship, with the maximum legally permitted hourly load and respective programmatic and organisational contents, express this orientation and intensity the matrix, in the prosecution of the Degree¿s objective: Train competent teachers. Such training will: Guarantee the mastering of Educational Sciences and the interdisciplinary area of Physical Education and Sports, in terms of critical comprehension not only of the education system, of its dynamic social and political structure, but also of the responsibility of the teacher and all participants in the educational process; Teach the subject and stimulate its critical and autonomous use, in the scope of the curriculum of Physical Education for elementary and high schools; Promote the progressive integration and sense of responsibility of the students in the context of pedagogical practice; Teach and support the students in the application of research methodologies adequate to the study of the issues of school education: whether it be didactic or in evaluation, organisation in the school and its relation with the community. A fundamental concern will integrate the teaching methodology: Scientific conscience. Scientific conscience, because each affirmation, each decision and each proposal does not renounce fundament; because this search and degree of uncertainty of the fundament in itself leads to the core of the conducive research towards more knowledge and better practices. Entrance Conditions The following may apply for the Master's Degree: a) People who hold a B.A. or equivalent degree; b) People who hold a foreign academic degree awarded after a 1st study cycle organized according to the Bologna Process by a member state of that process; c) People who hold a foreign academic degree acknowledged as a degree satisfying the objectives of the graduate degree by the due body; d) People who have a school, scientific or professional curriculum acknowledged by the due body of ULHT certifying the capacity to obtain this study cycle.
