Admission Requirements The following students may apply to the cycle of studies that leads to the mestre degree a) holders of a licenciado degree or legal equivalent; b) holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna process by a State that adheres to that process c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as fulfilling the objectives of the degree of licenciado by the statutorily competent body; d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized by the statutorily competent body of ULHT as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies. Seriation criteria - 100% CV evaluation Objectives The Master's Degree in Social Gerontology aims to - Promote and develop knowledge in the area of Social Gerontology, through qualified research and namely, - Reflect on the determinants of active ageing in the biopsychosocial and spiritual dimensions; - To increase health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation of diseases and disabilities, for a healthy ageing, aiming at a better quality of life; - To promote the qualification of professionals from different areas, in multidisciplinary teams for sporadic and/or continued, efficient and humanised care of the elderly, families and institutions; - Place the dimensions of human rights and ethics in gerontological intervention. Recipients The following students may apply to the cycle of studies that leads to the mestre degree a) Holders of a licenciado degree or legal equivalent, national or foreign, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna process. b) Holders of a national or foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as fulfilling the objectives of the degree of licenciado by the masters' statutory body. c) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, pre-Bologna, recognized by the statutory body of the master's degree, in a total of 80 credits, with equivalence to Curricular Units. Further Studies The Master's degree allows to apply to post-graduate studies, namely PhD. Career Prospects Public or private Entities and Organisations - Local Authorities, IPSS, Nursing Homes, Companies, etc.
