Admission Requirements The following are eligible to apply to the cycle of studies leading to the Doctoral degree (a) Holders of a master's degree or legal equivalent; b) Holders of a bachelor degree who have a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the PhD Scientific Committee; c) Holders of an academic, scientific and professional curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting to their capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Commission of the doctorate. Objectives The PhD in urbanism aims to train doctoral candidates for autonomous scientific activity in the area of urbanism, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the definition of new concepts and practices that contribute to the development of territories. Recipients Those who intend to develop their knowledge in the area of territory, namely regarding the creation of knowledge and practices that aim at the qualified life of communities. Career Prospects The PhD diploma in Urbanism aims to provide preparation and specific skills that allow the graduate to successfully pursue professional activities corresponding to one of the areas of specialization, as well as to continue his academic career, providing, in particular, the technical and scientific knowledge necessary for the attendance of a Post-Doctoral Program, teaching and research in the area of urbanism; Participation in multidisciplinary teams in the development of territorial programs and plans. Observations Doctoral students are required to participate in research activities and must be enrolled in a research center. Integration in teams of ongoing research projects is encouraged. The Universidade Lusófona is a member of the European Association of Schools of Urbanism (AESOP), and training in urbanism follows its guidelines.
