About the university
It was created when, in 1872 , the Ministry of Public Instruction entrusted Alberta Giménez with the direction of the first Normal School of Teachers of the Balearic Islands, a post which he held for forty years until 1912 . In 1948 the Alberta Giménez School was created, which, since October 1972 , is located in the La Vileta neighborhood . It was assigned to the UIB in 1978 and with the appearance of the LOGSE , happened to be called University School Alberta Giménez . Since 2005 - 2006 , it is a Center for Higher Education,
