About the university
The Royal College of Higher Studies of the Escorial was founded by Felipe II and refounded in 1892 by the Queen Regent Ms. María Cristina de Habsburgo and Lorena as Royal Center for Higher Studies. From 1892 it was entrusted to the guardianship of the order of the Augustinians. Due to the avatars of history, but never renouncing its original condition, the center is currently the Colegio Mayor and Centro Adscrito of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
