About the university
At present, and since the beginning of the sixties, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Granada has its headquarters in the old Palace of the Marquises of Caicedo, a stately mannerist aesthetic , built in the middle of the sixteenth century and located At number 46 of the central San Jerónimo Street. Already in the twentieth century , and prior to its use by the Conservatory, the building housed the Institute of Middle Education of Granada and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Granada . The building consists of two floors with galleries on four sides, which are formed by rectilinear depressed arches on columns of Tuscan order . It is organized around a central courtyard, which consists of a pillar of two pipes on one side; In addition, the building has a second auxiliary patio. The facade, an important example of the mannerism of Granada, has a structure of three floors, with two towers at the ends. The cover is of great sobriety and is elaborated with marble coming from Sierra Elvira.
