About the university
National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named PLShupyk (NMAPE name PLShupyk) - one of the first educational and scientific institutions of Ukraine founded in the period of Ukrainian statehood (1917-1919), during the revival of Ukrainian education, science and culture. It replaced the Clinical Institute for Advanced Medical, established in August 1918 at the initiative of Kyiv public health - Trade Union of doctors as the first and new to Ukraine type of higher education. Over the years the name NMAPE PLShupyk Ukraine has become a leading institution in Postgraduate Medical Education and powerful research center, of which 5 schools (general practice and family medicine, surgery, therapeutic, pediatric, medical-care and pharmaceutical, faculty training teachers), Institute of family Medicine, Institute of dentistry, Institute of Reproduction, teaching geriatric center, research training center for distance education research center and it ntralna research laboratory. 74 departments of the Academy employs almost 690 of teaching staff, including 2 Heroes of Ukraine, academician of Ukraine 3 and 4 member. NAS of Ukraine, more than 150 professors and 180 doctors, 410 candidates of sciences and associate professors.
