If you have a relevant qualification comparable to UK level 3 (such as Access to HE Diploma in Engineering or A' levels) you can apply to join this degree. If you do not have a level 3 qualification please look at our one-year Access to HE Diploma in Engineering programme). Building upon your basic engineering knowledge you will develop advanced practical and theoretical skills to give you a strong foundation in engineering. Progressing to advanced practical experience working with specialist facilities including simulation software such as MATLAB and, as an Electrical Engineering student at Newcastle College University Centre, you will have access to a range of industry-standard equipment in practical environments. During this practical degree you will study Programming Embedded Microcontrollers using C Language, and enhance practical and theoretical concepts of Digital Electronics and Electrical Power Systems by studying and building Digital Electronic Circuits used in industrial environments. You will also learn about HVDC, Synchronous and Asynchronous machines and Single and Three Phase Power Systems used in Electrical Power industrial applications. This degree will also provide you with a balance of interpersonal skills and industrial knowledge from using an industrial approach to Electrical Electronic, Control and Industrial Engineering techniques.
