About the university
Alamance Community College is a community college located in Graham, North Carolina, with a secondary campus in Burlington, serving the area of Alamance County. It was established in 1958 as part of a statewide system known as industrial education centers. In 1957 the North Carolina General Assembly allocated funds to create a statewide system of vocational schools for industrial training, which in 1959 they officially designated industrial education centers. Burlington-Alamance County Industrial Education Center was established in 1958 as the first of these, and one of the first community colleges in the state. It opened with 1,700 students and offering 15 programs.
