About the university
Maranatha’s history is that of an institution committed to the principles on which it was founded. The truth of God’s Word and an adherence to Baptist distinctives set it apart from other Christian universities. September 1968 welcomed 173 students and 27 faculty members as the start of something amazing. That first year, Maranatha awarded degrees to 13 students. We haven't looked back, now offering more than 40 accredited degrees across 9 distinct schools and colleges. Students from 47 states and 20 countries call MBU home. With the graduation of several third-generation students, Maranatha continues to root itself in rich family tradition. Our best days are still ahead of us.
