About the university
The Pontifical College Josephinum was established more than 125 years ago to help prepare men for the priesthood. As a pontifical institution, the Josephinum serves dioceses and religious communities in the United States and the Church abroad. Although it has direct ties with the Holy See, the Josephinum is self-supporting and receives no financial support from Rome, nor is it dependent on any one diocese or religious community. The seminary is largely sustained by the generosity and prayerful support of loyal alumni and friends. Since its founding in 1888, more than 1,900 Catholic priests have received their training at the Pontifical College Josephinum. Ordained alumni serve the People of God in 48 States and more than 20 foreign countries.
