The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is a regional branch of the University of Minnesota system located in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. As Duluth's regional comprehensive university, UMD offers 14 bachelor's degrees in 160 majors, graduate programs in 27 different fields, a two-year program at the School of Medicine, a four-year College of Pharmacy program, and a Doctor of Education program.

The University of Minnesota Duluth welcomes students from over 40 countries, and knows that international students enrich the campus community. International students have a strong support system at UMD, from an International Student Services team who helps connect students to on-campus resources and advocate for students to help make their transition to university life. Orientation is designed for international students to meet their peers and develop relationships even before classes start.
Student visa
Students who study at the University of Minnesota Duluth will have an F-1 visa, unless they are a U.S. citizen, green card holder/permanent resident, or are on another visa status that does not require a non-immigrant visa. We do have some programs that allow for students to be on a J-1 visa, but these students are under special circumstances. Please message us with your questions as we will be able to answer them according to your specific situation.
Accommodation
Students are welcome to stay in our dormitories, but there is a large number of rental properties and apartments quite near campus that are also available to students. Students are also given information about where to find off campus housing if they prefer. Multiple styles of on-campus housing are available, including single and double rooms, as well as apartment style-living (four room apartment with shared bathrooms).
Scholarships
Yes, scholarships are available to undergraduate international students (up to $7,000 annually). Undergraduate U.S. citizens/permanent residents as well as all graduate students will be connected with the domestic admissions office or graduate office, respectively, to determine their financial aid eligibility and be informed of scholarship deadlines.
