About the university
Presently, UNC offers two interdisciplinary academic programs: Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering and Doctor of Biomedical Engineering. The goal of UNC graduate studies at the Ph.D. level is to provide students with expertise in contemporary biomedical engineering theory, methods, and practice. Doctor of Biomedical Engineering graduates are prepared as leaders in therapeutic device design, development, and research. Faculty members have teaching and research expertise in areas of biomechanics (biosolid and biofluid mechanics), biomaterials, biomechanical engineering, bioinstrumentation, biomedical optics, bioelectrical engineering, and biosystems. Each student’s course of study is based on individual background and career objectives.
