About the university

The Faculty of Chemistry emerges as the Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Medicine in 1908. In 1912 the Institute of Industrial Chemistry is created and is dependent on the Ministry of Industries. Both were united in 1929 to create the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of the Republic. In 1959 it takes the name of Faculty of Chemistry. It is the only university service dedicated to the teaching and development of chemistry.
