In 1964, the Andijan Cotton Institute was established on the basis of the Andijan branch of the Tashkent Institute of Agricultural Irrigation and Mechanization, which trained engineers of mechanics of agronomists, engineers of hydro-reclaimers. In 1992, on February 28, under the decree of President Islam Karimov, special attention was paid to agriculture, along with other specialties, and the Andijan Agricultural Institute was established on the basis of the Institute, which trains specialists on the basis of three faculties in 14 directions: Agronomy, mechanization of agriculture, Economics and Accounting.
