The history of the educational institution began in the difficult post-war period, when the cities of Belarus were still in ruins, and the soldiers, who had come from the war, had to restore the destroyed national economy. The country needed the personnel of the transport police, and already in 1948 the question of the need to open an educational institution for the training of transport police officers was acute, because during the Great Patriotic War more than half of the employees of these units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs perished on its fronts. On April 2, 1948, on the orders of the Minister of State Security of the USSR, Colonel-General Abakumov, the Mogilev school of retraining of the sergeant of the corps of the Main Directorate of Security was established, on railway and water transport with a training period of 7 months. The first head of the school was appointed Lyakhov Vasily Ivanovich.
