Founded in 2004, University of Mines and Technology is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the suburban setting of the medium-sized city of Tarkwa (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Western Region. Officially accredited/recognized by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana (National Accreditation Board, Ghana), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) is a very small (enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 13 years old H.E. institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 20-30% making this Ghanaian higher education organization a very selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. UMaT also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sport facilities and/or activities, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
