About the university
The Federal University of Amapá (UNIFAP) is a federal public higher education institution, located in the state of Amapá. Its headquarters are in Macapá, with campus in Santana, Laranjal do Jari, Oiapoque and Mazagão, as well as a campus designed for Tartarugalzinho. The precursor structure of the Federal University of Amapá came with the assembly in 1970 [6] of the Nucleus of Education in Macapá (NEM), linked to the University of Pará (current UFPA). In the NEM, about 500 Short-term degree in the field of Magisterium, in order to reverse the delay of personnel in this sense in the region of the Federal Territory of Amapá, and to form a permanent and qualified, eminently regional framework. With the imminent rise of the Federal Territory of Amapá in a full federative unit, the need to build an autonomous university in the Amapá region was seriously discussed. This proposal culminated in the elaboration of Federal Law No. 7,530, of August 29, 1986, which created UNIFAP, becoming effective through Decree No. 98997 of March 2, 1990, published in the Official Gazette of the Union nº 43, of 5 Of March 1990. The NEM remained in operation until 1992, when its structures were reused to form the newly created UNIFAP.
