About the university
The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) was created by State Law 1,366, dated December 2, 1955, and installed under the name of the University of Paraíba as a result of the joining of some higher schools. Subsequently, with its federalization, approved and promulgated by Law no. 3,835 of December 13, 1960, was transformed into the Federal University of Paraíba, incorporating the existing university structures in the cities of João Pessoa and Campina Grande. Since its federalization, the UFPB has developed a growing multicampi structure , distinguishing itself in this aspect from other federal universities of the country's higher education system, which, in general, have their activities concentrated in a single urban space. This singularity was expressed by its performance in seven campuses implanted in the cities of João Pessoa, Campina Grande, Areia, Bananeiras, Patos, Sousa and Cajazeiras.
