Chengdu Textile College

Originated from “National Central Techniques College”, Chengdu Textile College (CTC) was founded in 1939 and directly under the leadership of Sichuan Provincial Education Department. Until now, CTC has been the sole full-time college on textile operation and education in western China. Now it locates in Xipu, Chengdu. 　　 Adhering to the party and state’s education policies, upholding the ideas of “serving the textile field, serving the society, serving the student and serving people”, serving the social demands, CTC is always making efforts to better itself by properly adjusting the discipline structure in time and continually strengthening the teaching staff. Consequently, CTC has already succeeded in forming its own discipline pattern, featured by the garment, textile, printing and dying as leading specialties, machinery, electric technology, electronic information and civil as backbone, arts, business, management and foreign languages developing hand in hand. The college spirit of “dedicating to work, contributing to people, sticking to democracy and harmony, striving to unremitting improvement and seeking for brilliance”, the college motto of “achieving moral integrality through honesty and pursuing knowledge through practice” as well as fine teaching ethics, studying atmosphere have been forged. 　　 Now, the whole college covers an area of 616.12mu (about 101.5 acre). The number of book collection reaches to 515,500 volumes. CTC sets up its own authorized textile vocational skills testing centers that are able to verify and authenticate vocational skills from the junior, intermediate to senior rate. The total value of the teaching and studying equipment is 33,026,000 RMB. There are 12 practical training bases inside the campus and 144 outside. The total value of college property is 470 million. In 2009, there are 9093 full-time students, 810 employees working in the college among whom 458 faculties, including 15 full professors (one is an American), 124 associate professors, 221 lecturers, 11 Doctors, 9 Doctors in reading, 148 postgraduates, 78 postgraduates in reading. The teachers with advanced professional titles and postgraduate academic credentials account for 30.3% and 33.8% respectively. Moreover, there are two experts who can enjoy the subsidies from the State Council, two national excellent teachers, two provincial teaching masters and two provincial models of teachers’ ethics. 21 domestic specialists and seven foreign professors are employed as visiting professors. Liu Shenggang, academician and bureau member of academic department of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is one of CTC’s visiting professors, the Honorary Director of CTC Scientific Committee and Consult of the CTC THz Textile Research Center.
