Beijing Foreign Studies University is located in Haidian District, is directly under the Ministry of Education, "985" advantages of innovation platform and the first batch of national "211 Project" Of the national key universities, is currently China's higher education institutions in a long history, the most professed language, complete school-level foreign language university. Beijing Foreign Studies University is the first foreign language school founded by the Communist Party of China. It was founded in 1941 by the Russian branch of the Chinese Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in Yan'an. After the development of Yan'an Foreign Language School, the school was under the leadership of the Party Central Committee. After the founding of new China, the school was headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 1954 changed its name to the Beijing Foreign Language Institute, in 1959 and Beijing Russian College merged to form a new Beijing Foreign Language Institute. After 1980, directly under the Ministry of Education leadership, in 1994 officially changed its name to Beijing Foreign Studies University. The school has 17 colleges, 6 directly under the Department, eight school-level entity research center.
