About the university
Chinese Academy of Governance (previously named China National School of Administration) was born in the surging tide of reform and opening up, and it constantly developed as the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics progressed. It was decided at the Thirteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1987 and at the First Session of the National People’s Congress in1988 to create a national civil service system and establish the ChineseAcademy of Governance. Preparatory work on the academy began in 1988, and it was formally established in 1994. Chinese Academy of Governance is a ministerial-level institution directly affiliated with the State Council. It is an important body for training high- and mid-level civil servants and high-level administrators and policy researchers; an important center for carrying out scientific research, particularly on the theory of public administration and on innovation in government administration; and an important think tank that provides consultation services to the Party and government on matters of policy.
