Hunan Railway Professional Technology College, a state-run, full-time college engaged in higher technological and vocational education, was located in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. Founded in 1951, it was initially invested and managed by China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Industry (Group) Corporation (CSR). From November 2009 it has been under the direct management of the Education Department of Hunan Province. The college consists of 6 Departments and 2 centers: the Electrical Engineering Department, the Electrical and Mechanical Department, the Information Engineering Department, the Business and Management Department, the Humanities and Social Sciences Department, the Physical Education department, Practice Center and Training Center.? It has 25 subjects. Electric Traction and Drive Control is a national quality subject. Electric Traction and Drive Control and the Application of Numerical Control Technique are national teaching reform experiment subjects. Six subjects, including Electronic Information Technology and Tourism Management, are provincial teaching reform experiment ones. The Basic Knowledge of Electrical Engineering, the Principle and Application of Single-Chip compute and the Power Electronic Technology are national quality courses. The practice base of the college is the only one national higher vocational education advanced manufacturing technology base in the five provinces of Central China for students’ practice and teachers’ training In 2004 the college was awarded with the “Excellent” Rating in the Higher Technological and Vocational Talent Cultivation level evaluation sponsored by the Ministry of Education, also passed ISO9001: 2000 International Quality Management System Authentication. In 2006 this college was selected into the first batch of initiated projects for the construction of National Model Higher Technological and Vocational Colleges. In the recent years, the college has been successively designated as the advanced manufacturing technological student practical training (Teaching staff training) base of the National Higher Technological and Vocational Colleges, also one of the first batch of national senior technical talent training demonstration bases.. Besides, in 2005 this college was honorably presented with the title of “Advanced Unit of the National Professional Technological and Vocational Education”. Since the college was upgraded to a Higher Technological and Vocational College, it has abided by the “learners-oriented” philosophy, persisted in taking, the road of college-enterprise cooperation and integration of production, teaching and research.
