About the university
In 1996, the Arauca Headquarters of the National University of Colombia was created, through Agreement 40 of 1996 of the Higher University Council. Likewise, through the Agreement 24 of 1997, modified by the Agreement 16 of 2009 of the Superior Council University was created the Institute of Studies of the Orinoquia. In accordance with the provisions of the General Statute of the University (Agreement 011 of 2005), the Arauca Headquarters was transformed into a National Presence Headquarters of Orinoquia, through which the National University of Colombia proposed to guarantee its presence in an area Strategic for the economic, political and social development of the country and consolidate its academic and research trajectory in the region of Orinoquia, within the project of recognition and presence in national borders. National University of Colombia at Arauca is a public, coeducational, research university, is one of the satellite campus of the National University of Colombia System. The offer of postgraduate programs has been oriented to the demand of professionals and have been offered through agreement with other Venues of the National University.
