About the university
The Fidélitas University is a private entity of public utility. It has been authorized for university and higher education of letters, sciences and the arts. It was established as an institution of higher education on August 21, 1980, when it was incorporated as a college affiliated to the first private university in the country, with the name Collegium Fidélitas. The new institution was born with two differentiating bases: academic excellence and cordial human relationship between the cloister and the students. This driving force made the Institution grow and develop, becoming in a short time, one of the best options to obtain a professional degree in Costa Rica. Precisely that growth, quantitative and qualitative, meant that Collegium Fidélitas became an independent university in 1994, as stated in Act No. 246-94 at the CONESUP meeting, held on August 29, 1994. Subsequently, the same people who had managed the creation of the new university asked the government entity to change its name, to be more natural and to express what it really was, a continuation of the Collegium Fidélitas: since then it would be called FIDELITAS UNIVERSITY. This was written in the Minutes of the Session No. 249-94 of CONESUP.
