Established in 1991, Lahden ammattikorkeakoulu (Lahti University of Applied Sciences) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the large town Lahti (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Paijanne Tavastia. Officially accredited/recognized by the Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö, Suomi (Ministry of Education and Culture, Finland), Lahden ammattikorkeakoulu (LAMK) is a small (enrollment range: 5,000-5,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Lahden ammattikorkeakoulu (LAMK) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. Lahti University of Applied Sciences has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. LAMK also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
