About the university
The first class entered November 3, 1896 Since the end of the nineteenth century, Charles Friedel, a chemist and mineralogist who chairs the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Sorbonne, believes that chemical engineers for industry must receive such a strong scientific basis as it is devoted to a purely scientific career. He received the authorization and appropriations necessary to create Practical and industrial chemistry laboratory at the Faculty of Science in Paris. The University of Paris leaves free temporary buildings located on 3 Rue Michelet. Charles Friedel became director and first class, the number of 50 students admitted on November 3, 1896.
