About the university
The Aix-en-Provence School of Art (ESAAIX) , created in 1765 by the Duke of Villars , then governor of Provence, trains artists and creators. The school pursues its general mission of higher education , assigned to schools of art, under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture . It reopened in 1973, near the Pavillon de Vendôme , in the Émile-Tavan street. The building is designed in a modern architectural style, allowing a certain modularity of spaces. The school holds so-called classic workshops, such as painting, silkscreening, video, volume. But it also modernizes by integrating workshops hypermedia, 3D, mechatronics, meta-workshop, real-time and sound. There is also a sixth year, in addition to the degree course (bac + 3) and master (bac + 5), reserved for sound students and named Locus Sonus.
