Our electricity increasingly comes from renewable energies, and yet it’s becoming more and more expensive. We insulate buildings, drive more fuel-efficient cars, and use energy-efficient devices – and yet there is an enormous increase in CO2 emissions. How can we explain such contradictions? Likewise, water-related issues are high up on the agenda. Germany has an abundance of water resources, and yet the water industry is faced with immense problems as declining demand leads to rising costs. How can we master these challenges? In the undergraduate programme in energy and water management at Ruhr West, you will learn how to give structured answers to such complex questions. Building on a comprehensive education in business administration, professors from the Institute of Civil Engineering and the Institute of Energy Systems and Energy Management teach separate modules to provide students with the required technical expertise. In addition, professionals from the field come in on a regular basis to talk about the legal framework. Above all, the programme is designed to give students a core skill for their careers: the ability to quickly familiarise themselves with new topics and to identify what is most important about them. This degree programme begins each winter semester (September 1)!
