About the university
In the Diocese of Pécs, after the end of the Turkish occupation, a half-century institute was established. The foundation stone of the seminar was placed by Bishop Zsigmond Berényi on June 4, 1742, and was devoted to St. Paul on September 4, 1746. Bishop Berényi and the nearly three thousand volumes of the chapter formed the basis for Hungary's first public library, which opened in Pécs in 1774. Its founder is György Klimó, bishop who has worked extensively on cultural activities. His seminary was a matter of concern, he increased his number of students, set up new departments, and started a philosophical course. She raised her studies from two to four years.
