About the university
D. M. College of Science, the only Cadre A -Science college in the State came into being in the year 1975 with the birfucation of the parent Dhanamanjari College (estd.1946) that continued to florished and enjoy the national status, a rare ans eviable honour achieve by a degree collage in the nort east part of the country. As the history goes by, the D.M. College was establish after a protracted but a determined effort since about 1939-40 on the part of a group of local esthusiasts with virson and strong desire, love and zeal for imparting higher and quality education in their own State. Notable among them was Maharani Dhanamanjari Devi who generously donated and substantail among a rupees ten thousand that worths a king’s ransom by that time and also persuaded Maharaj Churchand Singh ,KCSI, CBE, to patronise the establishment of such an instutition, the first of its kinds in the state. The name of the college as Dhanamanjari College was rightly given after the Maharani in recognition of the valuable service rendered by her. In 1948 the college came under the management of the state.
