About the university
The existence of the State Islamic High School (STAIN) Ponorogo is inseparable from the Shariah Academy Abdul Wahhab (ASA) as its embryo, which was established on February 1, 1968 on the idea of KH. Syamsuddin and KH. Chozin Dawoedy, who was then assigned on 12 May 1970 to the IAIN Sharia Faculty of Sunan Ampel Ponorogo. Led by RHM Aboe Amar Syamsuddin, then grew up, and started in 1985/1986 conducting S1 program by opening the majors of Qodlo 'and Muamalah Jinayah. Based on the demands of the development and organization of higher education, the Presidential Decree No. 11 of 1997 that changed the Faculty of Shariah IAIN Sunan Ampel Ponorogo became the State Islamic High School (STAIN) Ponorogo, starting on 25 Shafar 1418 or 30 June 1997. Since then STAIN Ponorogo 3 majors are Sharia, Tarbiyah, and Ushuluddin. In 2016, STAIN Ponorogo has 20 Study Programs consisting of 16 undergraduate courses (S1) and 4 master courses (S2).
