University August 17, 1945 Surabaya is a private university in Surabaya, Indonesia which was established on August 17, 1958. The educational organizers are the Foundation Foundation of 17 August 1945 Surabaya, abbreviated as YPTA. YPTA was established on August 17, 1954 which initially builds SMA and SGA. The foundation was founded by a few nationalist-minded people who were aware of the new condition of the Indonesian people and nations apart from colonialism. The founders of the foundation realized that during the Dutch and Japanese colonization, the people who could enjoy the education were very limited. Therefore established foundation engaged in the field of education in order to: "Participate in the intellectual life of the nation in order to eradicate the people from ignorance and poverty to create a just and prosperous society". On 10 November 1958, YPTA opened the State and Commerce administration academy (AANN) with the number of students in the first year of 80 people. Selection of majors tailored to the needs of the community at that time and the determination of the curriculum in accordance with the direction of the Institute of State Administration (LAN) in Jakarta. In 1962 AANN Surabaya merged with the University of 17 August 1945 (UNITA) Jakarta with the position as a branch with the name "Academy of State Administration and Commerce 1945 University Surabaya Branch abbreviated AKADIANN.
