The impact of anthropization and, above all, the process of extended urbanization on the planet, with the related environmental and social challenges, need the action of specialized professionals in the field of territorial governance to analyze, represent and assess current and future transformations as well as to plan scenarios and tools for decision-making. This is the mission for our students: Urban and Regional planners, Urban Managers, Spatial Analysts, Urban designers, and experts in territorial transformation dynamics. Job markets for our students are both in the public and private sector: from planning authorities at different territorial levels, to enterprises that have interests in urban and regional development, to agencies and organizations that deal with R&D in local and global contexts. Politecnico di Torino has been one of the first universities in Italy to create a degree programme in Territorial and Urban Planning (in 2001, after the national reform of regulated professions). You will become a Territorial planner, an expert in territorial transformations who can coordinate or direct project teams that deal with territorial, urban and strategic planning and design at various scales, from local to wider levels. You willdefine strategies, policies, programmes and projects of urban and territorial transformation that focus on the proper use of local resources and the engagement of stakeholders (institutional, economic, social). You will work with different players (institutional, economic, social) and also with non-experts, stimulating their cooperation and engagement. From the academic year 2023/2024 the MS Territorial, Urban, Environmental and Landscape Planning will be updated in the new MS Urban and Regional Planning. The new MS maintains the key assets of the previous course, while at the same time actualising its contents and teaching methods, to prepare its students to face new and emerging territorial development and planning challenges.
