About the university
SSML Carlo Bo was born in Milan in 1951 as a High School for Interpreters and Translators (SSIT); Was founded by the literary critic Carlo Bo and the politician and professor Silvio Federico Baridon with the aim of forming qualified professionals in the field of foreign languages in order to increase the contacts of Italy with the rest of the world. Originally, the building that housed the school was located in Via Silvio Pellico, near the Vittorio Emanuele II gallery. Since 1953, at the opening of a new headquarters in Rome, the opening of the venues of Florence, Bologna, Naples, Bari and Genoa was followed. In 1955, SSIT consolidated its structure and assumed the Foundation's institutional structure; In 1958 it was erected in the Moral Body. In 1968 he promoted and built the foundation of a University Institute that, starting from the core of foreign languages, became the Free University of Languages and Communication IULM for years.
