About the university
The roots of Kanazawa University can be traced to 1862 when the Kaga Domain established Hikoso Vaccination Center. Ishikawa Normal School, Kanazawa Higher Normal School, Ishikawa Youth Normal School, Kanazawa Medical School, Kanazawa Technical College, and the Fourth Higher School were integrated in May 1949 to form Kanazawa University. Since then, for over 50 years, Kanazawa University has been the leader of universities on the Sea of Japan. It has continuously and substantially contributed to the development of higher education in Japan as well as global promotion of research by offering various undergraduate and graduate courses.
