About the university
The Normal School of the State of San Luis Potosí was created by DECREE No.41 issued by the Constitutional Governor of the State, on March 31 of the same year, which ordered in its article, "the establishment of a Normal School for teachers of both genders". The inauguration of the campus was made on March 4, 1849 in the building of the Lancasteriana Principal School, located on the west side of the square of the collection, today Jardin Vallejo. Its first director was Professor Don Pedro Vallejo from the state of Guanajuato, and its first students thirteen young people from different parts of the state. The organization that had the School during the first years of life, was of type Lancasteriana reason why, since 1857, the way of reforming the Regulation of Education in the State, which was issued until 1863, and which establishes four Orders of teachers, with a specific Curriculum for each one.
