About the university
Promote the creation in the different fields of art, and disseminate cultural and artistic expressions in all its genres, as well as the scientific, technological and humanistic knowledge that are developed in the University, to enrich the training of students, benefit the most Possible to all of Mexican society and strengthen national identity. In 1947 the General Directorate of Cultural Diffusion was created with the purpose of integrating the main activities of diffusion of the culture of this University. Thirty years later, in 1977, the Coordination of University Extension was created, with the aim of systematizing the cultural extension activities carried out through the aforementioned Directorate, the dependencies that came from it, as well as the centers of extension. In March 1986, under the rectorate of Dr. Jorge Carpizo, the Cultural Diffusion Coordination was created, merging what until then had been the Coordination of University Extension and the General Directorate of Cultural Diffusion.
