Center for Advanced Naval Studies

The origin of the Navy of Mexico dates back to November 23, 1825, when the first Mexican naval squadron achieved the surrender of the last Spanish bastion and with it the National Independence. This fact allowed the State to realize the need to form a National Navy, and at the same time, the creation of naval education institutions in the country. Throughout the nineteenth century there were various projects and schools for this purpose, studies that were generally complemented abroad. On July 1, 1897, in the port of Veracruz, the Naval Military School was inaugurated with the objective of forming Officers for the Navy, whose training and preparation allowed it to efficiently comply with the demands of the Nation. Time and experience also determined the need to raise the quality of naval education to specialized levels; So that in the decade of the 70's of the twentieth century, the Navy-Navy Secretariat of Mexico considered the opening of a "Maximum House of Studies", which was created on September 21, 1970, by Presidential Agreement issued by The Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz and published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), on November 30 of the same year. This is called the Center for Advanced Naval Studies (CESNAV).
