About the university
The Autonomous University of Tlaxcala, was able to be constituted a November 20, 1976, being Governor of the State Emilio Sánchez Piedras and President of the Republic Luis Echeverría Álvarez. It was the Congress of the Free and Sovereign State of Tlaxcala, through Decree No. 95, Who dictated the Organic Law that gave legal origin to the Institution. His motto "For Culture to Social Justice". It is known that there were several attempts before the project was finalized, those initiated by the Governor of the State, Lic. Anselmo Cervantes, who under decree 149, April 29, 1965; Requested the support of the authorities of the 44 municipalities of the State. He had a good response, in material and financial resources, however, only part of the facilities that now belong to the Technological, Industrial and Services Higher Education Center (CBTIS) number 3 were built. In the same year, Dr. Armando Prado , Established the Nursing School, which together with the founding of the Law School by Lic. German Escobar Ramírez led to the creation of the Institute of Higher Studies of the State (IESE) and to the Technical Council which was directed by Lic. Antonio Flowers Grace.
