About the university
School Diakonova located right on the idyllic Fredensborg, central Oslo. The district is old and it is the college also - in some sense. It was started in 1916 at Rosenborg in Oslo under the name Menighetssøsterhjemmet. Here we built up a nursing education as especially targeting home-based nursing. Through congregation Sisters to every home in Norway will be covered by an offer of home nursing - which formed the basis for the later municipal home care. From the very beginning has college been a part of the Norwegian Church diaconal work, which is still the case. School has increasingly a priority focus on holistic view of humanity, current social challenges and preventive health care. Meanwhile, our society is constantly changing and thus also the school and its offerings. In 2005 changed the college's name to School Diakonova. Today's college spring characterized by great breadth - a diverse educational program for church and society and a marked global commitment.
