Degree programme description: Studies at Film and Television Directing programme aim to prepare the graduates to work as a feature and documentary film director, director of TV shows and short TV and film forms, including adverts. The three-year curriculum includes basic courses of culture studies, philosophy, sociology and history and theory of different fields of artistic work (film, theatre, music, literature and fine arts), and also programme courses aiming to equip students with professional qualifications (including feature and documentary directing, TV forms, editing, work with actors, TV and film techniques, advertising, sound production, economics of TV and film production). In the course of studies, students participate in practical workshops that eventually lead to individual production of TV and film etudes. The studies are finished with the preparation and discussion of bachelor degree thesis consisting of theoretical (written) and practical (production) parts. Career prospects: A graduate of the 1st cycle studies has knowledge of humanities and professional abilities in the field of screenwriting, directing and work with actors. They also have knowledge of technical and technological aspects of TV and film work (including, among others, film art, editing, film soundtrack production, and stage design). The elements of knowledge, abilities and social competences obtained in the course of studies prepare the graduate to fulfil the auxiliary function of director assistant, the function of director assistant on professional sets of feature and documentary films, they can also undertake work in television and other media, advertising industry, educational and art facilities, culture institutions etc.
