About the university
The Massana School is the municipal center of Art and Design that the city of Barcelona has located in the beautiful building of the old Hospital de la Santa Cruz. As a result of the legacy of Barcelona's baker and philanthropist Agustí Massana, the School began its teaching work on January 14, 1929. The Massana School articulates its educational offer on three conceptual fields (visual arts, applied arts, and design) and on three curricular levels: Basic Training (Baccalaureate Art), Higher Education (Higher Level Training Cycles, and University Degree in Arts And Design), and Permanent Training (non-formal education courses of initiation as well as specialization recognized by the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia, as well as UAB Specialization Courses, Free Elective Credits UAB). The Massana School belongs to the FAD Promotion of the Decorative Arts and to the Coordinator of Public Schools of Art and Design of Catalonia.
