About the university
The National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture is the successor of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, which was founded December 18, 1917. The main purpose of the first in Ukraine higher art education was nurturing art school on the grounds of national traditions and world culture. With the opening of the Academy for gifted Ukrainian youth the opportunity to pursue higher education is not outside Ukraine, and in their homeland. The Academy was founded basis for the formation and development of modern national education in fine arts, to teach invited leading masters, including the founders of the Academy M. Boychuk, M. Zhuk, V. Krichevsky, F. Krichevsky, A. Manevych, O. Murashko G. Narbut. The first rector of the Academy were such prominent artists-educators as F. Krichevsky, G. Narbut, J. Wrona and others.
