Modeled after a medical residency for aspiring physicians, the WNY Teacher Residency is an intensive two-year apprenticeship that pairs rigorous coursework with structured field experiences under the mentorship of a master teacher. The program is designed for people without any formal education training and enables them to complete the requirements for master's level teacher certification in New York State. Students make a three-year commitment to teach in an urban school in the Buffalo-Niagara region after completing the program.
