Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) was founded in 1911 and has grown to become the second largest university in the state of Tennessee. MTSU has the lowest tuition rate of any major university in Tennessee. We completely understand the importance of financial aid. For international students, you will find our fee structure a very attractive deal. For undergraduate students, tuition and room and board is $40,200 for an academic year (Undergraduate Tuition--$28,000; Room and Board--$10,000; Miscellaneous--$1,200; Books--$1000; Total--$40,200). For graduate students, tuition and room and board is $38,372 for and academic year (Graduate Tuition--$26,172; Room and Board--$10,000; Miscellaneous--$1,200; Books--$1000; Total--$38,372. We offer International Merit Scholarships (IMS) exclusively for international students. These are based entirely on GPA in amounts of $4K (3.25-3.49), $8K (3.50-3.74), and $16K (3.75-4.0). You do not need to apply for the IMS as you are automatically eligible once you are admitted. Academically over 300 programs of study are offered at the bachelor, masters, and doctoral levels. Many of our programs have earned national and, sometimes, international recognition for excellence. A highly trained and dedicated group of faculty members not only prepare our students for their first job, but for careers that might not yet exist. Gaining a comprehensive education, instead of only specializing in one skill that could become less important a decade or two from now, that prepares students to handle diverse challenges of the job market. In its earliest days, MTSU was a teachers’ college and still educates more teachers than any university in Tennessee. Many of our programs are developed with industry partners to ensure that our curriculum fits the needs of the job market and provide our students with experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
