Sichuan Vocational and Technical College,set up in 1917,has a history of 50 years. It covers a land area of 1,200 mu(Chinese acres)with a lot of trees and flowers and has the reputation of "Garden College ".The college is located in Suining City, the second biggest transportation center of Sichuan province, where Chengdu-Nanchong Freeway , Chengdu-Chongqing High speed Railway ,Dazhou-Chengdu Railway ,and the two ways under construction----Suining-Chongqing Freeway and Suining-Mianyang Freeway ,join up ,making traffic very convenient .Here is a remarkable place producing outstanding people with green hills and claer waters ,rich in nature#s treasures . The Fujiang River once brought up such celebrated and talented scholars as Chen Ziang ,and Huang E ,leading the literary world of their time,and the soil fostered such famous officials and virtuous prime minister infeudal China as Zhang Penghe,adding to the glory of Suining history .Tourists from home and abroad are attracted by the tourist culture with a theme of "Dead Sea of China ,Kwan-yin# Hometown , the Western Water City,and the national treasure the porcelains of Song Dynasty". The college is a province-level garden-style unit,with green trees setting off one another and flowers smelling sweet in the four seasons. SCVTC has more than 800 teaching and administrative staff members including over 500 full-time teachers ,among whom 137 teachers are associate professors,138 people are of middle-ranked academic title,and 6 experts enjoy government subsidies granted by the State Council. The college has successively employed 36 experts and professors from US,Japan,Canada,Australia,New Zealand,Denmark,Holland,etc.in teaching, giving lectures or conducting research. SCVTC and Australia Campus Managment Group have jointly set up "Global Assessment Certificate Center of SCVTC ".The college has perfect teaching facilities and a service security system with 4 intramural training centers 126 training laboratories .It also has more than 400,000 books and 1,100 newspapers and periodicals. SCVTC has 11 major departments such as Machininery, Electrical＆Electronic, Engineering, Automobile, English, Computer, Architecture, Management, etc. including 36 full-time specialities. It recruits its students from 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions acoss the country and has 60,000 graduates.The college being a base of High-demand Talent Training Programs in Manufacturing and Modern Service Industries has been approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications. The college and Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) have become sister colleges.
